That seems to be the mantra for a number of misbehaving models and beauty queens, most recently former beauty pageant contestant Kumari Fulbright, who was sentenced to two years in prison and six months' probation today after she pleaded guilty to kidnapping and torturing her ex-boyfriend two years ago.
Fulbright, 28, competed in the Miss Arizona beauty pageant before earning her J.D. from the University of Arizona's law school, where she was listed as a member of the law journal's editorial board, according to ABC News.
But in 2007, the pageant queen became embroiled in a plot targeting her ex-boyfriend, Joshua Conway, and hinging on a piece of jewelry she was given by another ex-boyfriend, Robert Ergonis. That fall, Fulbright had asked Conway to sell the piece of jewelry. When Ergonis later asked her where it was, she lied and said Conway had stolen it.
She and Ergonis then lured Conway to Fulbright's apartment, where Ergonis and another man tied him up, beat and cut him, and held him at gunpoint for 10 hours until he managed to escape.
Not exactly exemplary pageant behavior.
But Fulbright is not the first beauty to face the law for criminal or otherwise unruly behavior. Below, Surge Desk looks at three other misbehaving models.
1. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition model Jessica White
Jessica White, who won a coveted spot in this year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition, was arrested in October for assaulting a woman on a street corner, The New York Post reported.
The court complaint said that White, who has been linked to fellow firecracker Sean Penn, "pulled the victim's hair and struck [the victim] numerous times in the face with her hand, causing abrasions, swelling and substantial pain."
2. Beauty queen Angie Sanclemente Valencia
In May, 31-year-old Colombian beauty queen Angie Sanclemente Valencia was accused of compelling other young models to smuggle cocaine from Argentina to Europe by promising them first-class travel, according to the BBC. She was on the run for five months before police discovered her living in a youth hostel in Buenos Aires.
3. Supermodel Karen Mulder
In July 2009, former Dutch supermodel Karen Mulder, who had an illustrious career modeling alongside the likes of Naomi Campbell, Helena Christensen and Kate Moss, was arrested in Paris for threatening to attack her plastic surgeon over the telephone, the Daily Mail reported
"She was screaming and shouting about the operation and became extremely threatening. There were repeated calls to the female surgeon, who was extremely scared," a detective reported.
Mulder was arrested on charges of "threatening behavior" and has kept a low profile ever since.
